The program begins with an initial
physician visit. This is usually done at our central office.
At that time, a thorough and comprehensive
interview and exam is completed to determine the
appropriate mode of therapy for your case. If Buprenorphine is selected, then an initial induction with Suboxone will be performed.
After the initial office visit, a period of "stabilization" will be required. This period lasts
three to seven days. During this period, the patient will be maintained on a constant daily dose that is determined during
the induction process of the initial visit. In general, the patient will be seen at the end of the initial seven day period for a second visit at the central office for follow-up. If indicated,
a dosage adjustment to the Suboxone will be made.
During the first and second visit, the necessity of developing a recovery program will be discussed and emphasized. Suboxone facilitates the patient's ability to develop a recovery program.
A recovery program allows the patient to palce the disease of opiate dependancy into remission. Suboxone does not "cure" the disease. The disease is never "cured", but can be put into long-term and lasting remission.
After the initial visit(s), one of the convenient regional centers will be selected for continued follow-up. This is to minimize lost opportunity costs, promote gainful employment, and maximize the development of a recovery program
within the patient's local community. Routinely, the patient will report to the regional clinic on a bi-weekly basis.
